The Board of Trustees is Kenyon College's governing body. Composed of elected alumni, donors, and respected patrons of the school, it oversees every aspect of the academic program, planning and business development, and funding. Every spring, the Board meets to decide everything from which professors get tenure to where Kenyon's money will be invested.

The Board has been around since the College's founding. The original minutes and records from the first meetings in 1825 to the present day reside in the vault of the Archives and Special Collections located in Olin Library. The founding members of the Board of Trustees were Bishop Philander Chase, the Reverends Mefors, R. Searle, L. Johnston, J. Morse, and Colonel John Johnston. Rev. Morse was elected the pro tempore at the first meeting.

The first meeting of the Board of Trustees was June 3, 1825, in Zanesville, Ohio.
