Kenyon Inn
From KCpedia
The Kenyon Inn opened on March 5, 1985. Located at 100 West Wiggin Street, the inn boasts of 33 rooms and a restaurant. Alumni, led by Robert Tomsich, funded and operated the inn during its first fourteen years. It was Robert Tomsich who initially proposed the project. It was constructed atop the site of the old Alumni House. The Kenyon Inn is very popular with students and visitors, and its rooms are usually booked years in advance for important events like Commencement.
Changes
When it opened, the Inn was home to the Alcove on Campus, a restaurant owned by Tom and Julie Metcalf. The Alcove suddenly gave up its lease in 1993, and dining area became known as the Kenyon Inn Restaurant. In 1999, the inn became college property when the transfer of ownership plan was approved at a Board of Trustees meeting. Soon after, the Kenyon Inn management group consulted with Kiefer Joan & Associates Design about renovations. In 2002, the rooms were outfitted with new carpets, sinks, and furniture, the color schemes were changed, and several rooms expanded. The renovations were completed in July.
Staff
In August of 2001, Ernest B. Linger of North Carolina was appointed to the General Manager position. Executive Chef Maan Hand is a Kenyon graduate.
