Kokosing River
The Kokosing River is a creek that flows near the college. It had been anglicized by early settlers into "Owl Creek". When he founded Kenyon, Philander Chase renamed it "Vernon River," but Bishop Bedell is credited with restoring the creek to its original Indian name of Kokosing.
