Phi Beta Kappa

Phi Beta Kappa was instituted at Kenyon College in 1858, with the establishment of the Beta Chapter of Ohio. The "Alpha of Ohio" at Western Reserve College authorized , John W. Andrews. a Kenyon trustee, with Professor Thomas M. Smith and Hamilton L. Smith to Kenyon's chapter.
